The MMXXI Lava Rock Diffuser Kit

I'm very excited to share with you our new, limited offering of scented candles and lava rock diffusers by Danish designer Oliver Gustav. My dear friend Lee Stanton, antiques expert and owner of beautiful stores in Los Angeles and Montecito, recently returned from a European buying trip where he discovered this special line. After experiencing the scents myself, I completely fell in love with the collection and wanted to offer my three favorites to my customers as well. The candles come in handsome iron containers, while the lava rocks are presented on minimalist iron stands. I love their natural, wabi-sabi look, and the incredible artistry of their aromas.

The Journey Candles

Not only are they aesthetically beautiful objets, but the scents are unique and complex.

VOLUBILIS: MOROCCO, MIST, RUINS
Bright, green, and grassy, like a large bouquet of freshly picked Moroccan mint and peppery oleander. Unlike the mint than you normally smell in products, this feels more like a long ramble through an intoxicating herbal garden.

MA'AT: MYSTERIOUS, EGYPT, SOIL
Warm, earthy and richly layered, with notes of resin, amber and sunbaked wood. A smoky, complex blend evocative of sandy desert winds and the deep mysteries of the river Nile.

MMXXI: TABAC, POWERFUL, VIOLET
A bold and intriguing mix of lingering tobacco smoke, beds of wild violet, and worn, leather-bound books. Cozy and romantic, like a library in the English countryside.

Each time you light your scented candle, allow the entire surface to melt, all the way out to the edge of the iron, before extinguishing it. This should take approximately 30 - 40 minutes and should be sufficient for the scent to fill the room. This will guarantee an even burn going forward and will allow you to get the most out of your candle. After the candle has burned all the way down, you can reuse the iron vessel as a bud vase, storage vessel, or a uniquely simple sculptural element.

The lava rock diffuser is best for scenting rooms where you wouldn't want to leave a burning candle. A non-electric, natural way of perfuming small to medium-sized spaces, each specimen of Icelandic lava rock is an artistic piece in and of itself. Displayed atop a solid iron pedestal, you only have to release a couple drops of the essential oil it comes with onto the stone for the aroma to start permeating your space. Repeat once a week, or as necessary. Refills of the essential oils are also available for individual purchase.
